Our frequently asked questions are regularly updated. If you can’t find what you’re looking for here, or in our other guides, email our friendly support team.

How do I activate / deactivate Redirect Pro?

Broken link tracking can be activated or deactivated via the Redirect Pro app embed block in your Theme Settings.

If you change or update your theme, Redirect Pro must be reactivated. Follow our guide to learn how.

Does Redirect Pro create 301 or 302 redirects?

Shopify, and therefore Redirect Pro, only support HTTP 301 redirects.

What’s the difference between a full URL and a relative URL?

A full URL is exactly what you see in the search bar: **https://www.shopifystore.com/products/product-name**

A relative URL is everything after the domain name, including the first forward slash: /products/product-name

How do I change my email address?

From the Redirect Pro admin, you can update your email on the Settings page.

Redirect Pro hasn’t detected any 404s yet. How do I know it’s working?

If Redirect Pro is activated in your Theme Settings, the app will track visits to broken URLs on your website and add them to the Unresolved tab on the Broken Links page.

Broken URLs can’t be identified before they are visited because there's an infinite number of possible broken URLs on every website. View our guide to learn more.

Note: If you change or update your theme, you need to reactivate Redirect Pro.

How do I get in touch?

Customer feedback keeps up going! Drop us an email at [email protected] to report a bug, make a feature request, or simply to say ‘Hi’ 😆.

How do I redirect broken URLs to my homepage?

Enter a forward slash, /, into the Redirect to field.

What is a 404 broken link?

When visited, broken URLs will load a "page not found" placeholder message, or "404" may appear somewhere on the page. This simply means the requested page has been deleted, unpublished, moved or the URL has simply been misspelt.

Can I redirect an active page?

Shopify does not currently support redirects for active pages. This is because 301 redirects inform the browser that the webpage content has permanently moved from one location to another. This means that when visiting the ‘Redirect from’ URL of a redirect, the visitor will only ever see the ‘Redirect to’ webpage, so there is no value in having any active content on the ‘Redirect from’ page. This is why active pages cannot be redirected.
