After you upload a spreadsheet of redirects, navigate to URL Redirects > Upload Redirects and click on the filename in the table of Past Uploads to view a summary of the upload.
Redirects on the Successful page were uploaded and can be found on the URL Redirects page. Redirects on the Unsuccessful page could not be added to your store. You can find the reason why in the Shopify error message column.
Here are the most common reasons your upload might fail, and what you can do to fix this.
Tip: Make sure you follow the step-by-step guide to create a redirect
- You can download and view the sample URL redirect CSV file to use as a template
- You can’t create a redirect from a Redirect from URL if it’s already being redirected in your store. This creates an error message something like
{"errors":{"path":["has already been taken"]}}
. Delete the existing redirect before uploading the new one.
- Make sure you have column headers. Redirect from should be in cell A1 and Redirect to should be in cell B1
- Meet the criteria for your Redirect from and Redirect to URLs. For example, Redirect from must be a relative URL and Redirect to must be a relative URL if redirecting users on the same website, or a full URL if redirecting visitors to a subdomain, a secondary domain or a different website
- Every Redirect from URL in column A must have a Redirect to URL in column B, and vice versa. You cannot upload a spreadsheet that contains incomplete redirects
- Save your spreadsheet as a '.csv' file with comma delimiters and not a '.xlsx' file ****before trying to upload it in Redirect Pro
